A few days ago into our town
Came a lady in a lovely gown
And a matching hat of red,
Gold, and velvet brown.
With her, from out on the plain
She brought clouds and wind and rain
A hint of cold and then a frost
And then gentle blossoms were lost
Leaves tumbled from the trees
As did the thermometer’s degrees
Not for a moment did she refrain
From reminding all of the coming pain
of Winter’s slow approach……………..
Autumn was not a lady.…
